Spitzer Takes On Record Industry Payola
NY Attorney General Spitzer has served subpoenas to four major record labels (UMG, BMG, EMI, WMG) in a continued house-cleaning of corporations employing dirty-tricks. In this particular group of cases, investigations are focusing on the circumvention of the Federal Payola Law, which forbids bribing radio broadcasters in return for airing specific songs. Mmm sweet karma.
Pumping Up the Power of the IPod
Wired News tested a $40, high-capacity, 2,100 mAh (milliamp hour) replacement iPod battery from Newer Technology. It was easy to install and delivered 22 hours of continuous play — more than double the play time of the original battery. (The battery tested is for first- and second-generation iPods; Newer also sells one for third-generation iPods.)
Kerry’s hometown paper endorses President Bush
I just found this the most fascinating thing. Senator Kerry’s own
hometown paper in Massachusetts, a traditional Democratic town, has
not only endorsed President Bush, but a ringing endorsement, and
quite harsh against Kerry.
